A tip regarding possible suspicious activity from a neighbor led police to a burglary in progress on Friday morning. Three people were arrested as a result of the incident.
According to Police Chief Mike Borges, in the mid-morning hours on Friday, April 29, officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress in the 2100 block of Mission Street.
“Officers arrived on scene and located Samuel Botchvaroff, 30 years old, from Oakland, in the process of prying open a door to the residence,” Borges explained. “In a nearby vehicle was Jenna Rojas-Garcia, 34 years old, from Manteca, and Johnny Wolchow, 31 years old, from San Leandro. Witnesses indicated that Rojas-Garcia and Wolchow had approached the front door of the residence and rang the doorbell, in an apparent attempt to determine if the house was unoccupied.”
Once discovering no one was at the residence, police said the trio attempted to break in to the home in a brazen daytime burglary.
“All three subjects were taken into custody,” said Borges.
Botchvaroff was charged with burglary, conspiracy, possession of burglary tools, possession of a dangerous weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Rojas-Garcia was charged with burglary and conspiracy. Wolchow was charged with burglary, conspiracy, and possession of burglary tools. All three were booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
