In action at the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, June 7, Portuguese Heritage Month did not go unnoticed. At the request of Fifth District Supervisor Robert Rickman, the item was placed on the agenda. This was the first time San Joaquin County recognized Portuguese Heritage Month.

“It was an honor to place on the agenda and introduce the Portuguese Heritage Month Proclamation during the Board of Supervisors meeting. Thank you to Ms. Madruga for accepting the proclamation, “Supervisor Rickman said. “The Portuguese Community has made significant contributions to San Joaquin County, California, and the United States. I’m proud of my Portuguese heritage and proud to be a member of the Portuguese community.”

Rickman represents south San Joaquin County on the board, including Escalon, Ripon, Tracy, Mountain House and associated unincorporated areas.
