Coroner’s Office Identifies Vehicle Accident Victim

Officials with the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office have released the identity of a teenager killed in a two-vehicle crash on Oct. 14 in Escalon.

The victim was identified as Jose Torres-Jimenez, 19. The coroner’s office indicated he was an Escalon resident.

Authorities said the crash occurred at the intersection of Brennan and Arthur roads about 11 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14. According to the CHP report, Torres-Jimenez was driving westbound on Arthur Road and failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection. His vehicle was struck by a big rig that was northbound on Brennan. Both vehicles were traveling an estimated 55 mph at the time of the collision.

Torres-Jimenez was pronounced deceased at the scene; the truck driver had minor injuries only.

The CHP report also indicated that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
