Used Book Sale

The Friends of the Escalon Library organization will be offering a special event at 709 First St., corner of Irwin and First, this week. Join the Friends for its ‘Gently Used Books’ sale and a limited selection of See’s Candy will be available for purchase as well. Representatives will be on site from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3. The listed hours could be extended, as long as customers are on site.

 

Women’s Club Meets

The Oakdale Women’s Club (OWC) will be having its monthly luncheon/meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club, 243 N. Stearns Road, Oakdale. The luncheon, usually held inside, will be held outside in the Country Club’s big tent due to the COVID-19 restrictions and will begin at noon. Those attending will be given a special menu to order from, cost of which is $16 per person. The OWC’s regular meeting will then begin at 12:30 p.m., starting with dessert and the announcement of the Woman of the Year award. The women’s group will also be holding their annual fun-filled Halloween Costume contest with prizes going to the most original, the scariest and the ugliest outfits. The practicing of safe social distancing and the wearing of masks while inside the Country Club’s bar and restrooms is required. League Features Ballot Info

The League of Women Voters of Stanislaus County has voting information available via a virtual event. In the interest of voter education, the League is presenting the ‘California November Ballot Propositions Event’ which the public can visit by logging on to lwvstanislaus.org or www.facebook.com/LVWStanislausCounty for viewing. The League of Women Voters of Stanislaus County is holding this virtual voter education event to explain the Pros and Cons of the 12 California Ballot Propositions.
