Sunday Barbecue Benefit

The Oakdale Community United Methodist Church at 1480 Poplar Ave., is planning a barbecue after the 11:30 a.m. Church Service on Sunday, July 10. A Free Will Offering will be collected to go towards a new air conditioning system. For more information, contact Judy Bradley at 209-985-3590.


Curtain Rises On Show

The next production at Hutton’s Hamlet is “Caught in the Web” and shows are scheduled for Friday, July 8 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 9 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for those 12 and under. The Performing Arts Center is at 132 W. G St., Oakdale. Memes, viral videos, games, email, dating sites, and social media come alive onstage, including Fruit Ninja, The Dress, Distracted Boyfriend, and many more. And it wouldn’t be the internet without lots of cats, and a dancing baby.  For more information, call 209-848-1216.

 

Pianist In Concert

Beat the summer heat with the cool music of John Nilsen, pianist extraordinaire, who is returning to this area following the pandemic break. He will be performing in concert on Sunday, July 10 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Escalon United Methodist Church, 2000 Jackson Ave., Escalon. There is no charge for the concert, but a free will offering to cover his expenses will be gratefully accepted. There will also be a meet and greet session after the concert, with refreshments and a chance to talk to Nilsen. All in the region are invited and encouraged to attend and bring family and friends to enjoy the performance, which is being co-hosted by the Escalon and Farmington United Methodist Churches.

 

Weight Loss Group

All interested are welcome to join TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) a weight support group that meets in Oakdale every Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Community United Methodist Church on Poplar. This group is open to the public and anyone interested in improving their life by losing weight can contact Audrey for more information, call 209-765-7838.

 

Widowed Persons Support

Oakdale Widowed Persons Group invites you to join them the first Saturday of each month for breakfast at 9 a.m. and on the third Tuesday of each month for lunch at 1 p.m.; call for locations. All are welcome to join the group no matter how long ago you lost your spouse. For more information, contact Barbara at 209-322-2184.

 

Enjoy Dancing

Check out the Golden Agers at the Riverbank Community Center on Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with dancing, socializing, live music and fun for all. All adults 55-plus are welcome. Just drop in to check it out or become a member. Fees are $5 for members and $6 for non-members. Membership is $15; contact Ellie DeJesus at 209-277-5584 or Lupe Padron at 209-573-5014.
