Escalon City Hall at 2060 McHenry will be closed for the Christmas holiday on Monday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Dec. 26. The office will also be closed on Monday, Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Day and a reminder that City Hall is regularly closed every Friday.
Also, Gilton Solid Waste will be closed on Christmas Day. City officials note that if your normal garbage collection falls on that holiday, the collection will be done the following day.
Local businesses are also being reminded by city officials to renew their business licenses. All business licenses will expire on Dec. 31, 2023; for information regarding license renewal, call 209-691-7423. Renew by Jan. 30, 2024 to avoid penalties.
Meanwhile, Escalon City Council members were scheduled to meet in the final regular City Council meeting on Monday evening, Dec. 18, following deadline for The Times.
Among the topics of note on the agenda was considering authorizing City Manager Dominique Romo to execute an 18-month agreement, in a form approved by the City Attorney, with the Escalon Unified School District for a School Resource Officer. If approved, it is scheduled to be in effect from Jan. 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. Also scheduled was a discussion regarding a City Services and Maintenance Communities Facilities District (CFD) for new development projects only. Council members were expected to discuss various options for the development of a CFD to help fund essential city services based on the impacts of new development.
Also due on Monday night were reports from several city departments, including the November activity reports from the Police, Animal Control, Recreation, Development Services, and Public Works, as well as a Waste Water Treatment Plant update, Water Department and Building Department reports.
An update was scheduled by the Ardurra Group, Inc. on the Surface Water Project with South San Joaquin Irrigation District.
