Escalon Fire Department will once again host its annual Christmas tree pick-up, with the date for the event set for this weekend.
On Saturday, Jan. 5, firefighters will make their rounds through the city to pick up discarded Christmas trees and take them for recycling. The trees should be placed curbside before 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, said officials.
Also, please remove all the ornaments and tinsel and take the tree out of its tree stand before placing it outside. Typically, firefighters make one sweep through the city picking up the trees so residents are asked to put them outside early. This is a free service provided by the department. The trees are then taken to the local Lionudakis Firewood for chopping up.
For those residents that miss the Saturday pick up, fire officials said you can cut up the tree and place it in your green waste can.
