Chamber, City Gear Up For Christmas On Main

Sign-ups are being taken for the parade and those interested in hosting a booth or helping sponsor the annual Christmas on Main event can get involved now. The gathering is centered in the city’s Main Street Park downtown.

Scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14 this year, the event will begin with booths opening at 3 p.m., decorating of the ‘giving trees’ also gets underway at that time. Performances on the Main Street Stage will include the El Portal Middle School Band at 3 p.m., the Escalon High School Choir at 3:30 p.m. and the PowerHouse Dance Studio at 4 p.m.

The festive Parade of Lights, with each entry needing some form of holiday lighting included, begins at 5:30 p.m.

Santa Claus arrives at 6 p.m. and there will be holiday shopping, children’s activities and more.

The Christmas on Main is hosted by the Escalon Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the City of Escalon.

Scheduled from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., the festivities include not only the parade but also the entertainment, a variety of vendor booths with many of them offering holiday merchandise, food, photos and more. There are also fire pits set up throughout the Main Street Park area for those attending to enjoy making s’mores.

“Christmas on Main celebrates the season by offering a pleasant community event that highlights the benefits of small town living,” Chamber officials said.
