Enjoying their chance to ride in style as Grand Marshals for the 2019 Homecoming Parade were Evelyn Swass and Felix Kalin, all smiles as they waved to spectators along the Friday afternoon parade route. Marg Jackson/The Times

The Homecoming observance for 2019 featured a special toast to 100 years of Escalon High School. With the school marking its centennial this year, the Grand Marshals for the annual Homecoming Parade were Evelyn Swass, Class of 1947 and Felix Kalin, Class of 1943.

They led off the Friday afternoon parade and there were plenty of new memories to be made, with activities at the high school throughout the week and culminating with a varsity football victory. Other entrants in the parade ranged from a float of past Homecoming Queens to the cross country team, elementary school floats, the high school’s first responder class and the colorguard of the Escalon American Legion Post starting it off, with emcee Robert Swift announcing the entries.
