The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors is seeking volunteers to serve on several boards and commissions. The deadline to submit applications is Friday, July 3. The Board of Supervisors will consider qualified applications, received on or before the deadline, at the Board meeting of Aug. 4, 2020.

All members appointed by the Board of Supervisors will be required to attend training. Training dates and registration information will be provided by the Clerk of the Board upon appointment.

The following positions are available.

Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee – One Position: San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation Representative.

In-Home Supportive Services Advisory Commission – Five Positions: One Other Representative, defined as persons who represent one or more of the following areas: Personal Assistance Services Individual or Family Providers; Personal Assistance Services Contract Provider Representative; Social Services Administrative Representative; Licensed Medical Professional; Senior Advocate; Younger Disabled Advocate; Health Care Provider Representative. One Provider Representative. Qualified applicants must be current or former providers of in-home supportive services. Three User Representatives. Qualified applicants who live or work in San Joaquin County must be past or present users of public or private personal assistance services.

Parks and Recreation Commission – One At-Large Representative. Qualified applicants must reside within San Joaquin County.

Workforce Development Board – Applicants must submit a Supplemental Form, signed by a nominating agency, along with an application for the following positions: One Community Based Organization Representative, including representatives of community based organizations that have demonstrated experience and expertise in addressing the employment needs of individuals with barriers to employment, including organizations that serve veterans or that provide or support competitive integrated employment for individuals with disabilities. One San Joaquin County Probation Department Representative. One First Supervisorial District Representative of Local Business, including business owners, chief executives or operating officers of businesses, and other business executives including human resources executives, with optimum policy making or hiring authority. Business representatives shall reflect employment opportunities in the local area and be appointed from among those individuals nominated by local business organizations and business trade associations.

Also, One Fourth Supervisorial District Representatives of Local Business, including business owners, chief executives or operating officers of businesses, and other business executives including human resources executives, with optimum policy making or hiring authority. Business representatives shall reflect employment opportunities in the local area and be appointed from among those individuals nominated by local business organizations and business trade associations. Four Representatives of Local Labor Organization. Representatives of local labor organizations, including a representative of an apprenticeship program, with optimum policy making authority within the organization. Labor representatives shall be appointed from among those individuals nominated by local labor federations. Seven At-Large Representatives of Local Business. One Representative of Local Economic Development Agency. Representatives of local economic development agencies, including private sector economic development entities, with optimum policy making authority within the agency. Economic development representatives shall be appointed from among those individuals nominated by the appropriate board or commission. One Representative from the Human Services Agency. One Representative of Local Vocational Rehabilitation Program. One Youth Education/Local Education Agency Representative. Representatives of entities administering education and training activities in the Local Area. May include representatives of local educational agencies, and of community-based organizations with demonstrated experience and expertise in addressing the education or training needs of individuals with barriers to employment.
