Central Valley Community Resources (CVCR) hosted its fourth annual fundraising crab feed at the Escalon Sportsman’s Club this past Saturday, Feb. 15. This is the second year that CVCR has hosted the crab feed at the Escalon site, as they feel it is a good location. Previously they have held the event at the Riverbank Community Center.

The “Crabby Love Affair” included a silent auction, raffle, dancing to live music from Combo Puerto Rico, and Caribbean style crab. CVCR CEO Darlene Barber Martinez stated that there were 300 tickets sold and that it was very successful.

The menu provided by Morales Catering consisted of a garden salad, Caribbean style crab, bayou shrimp, tri-tip, jambalaya rice, Cajun chili beans and a chocolate covered strawberry that topped a frosted cupcake. There was a photo booth available and a 50/50 raffle that attendees could partake in as well.

During the dinner, Jerimiah Williams with the Temporary Housing Placement Program for at-risk youth between the ages of 18 to 21 gave a speech about the programs and the needs of foster kids in the community.
