Paddleboard enthusiasts from all over the world will embark on the inaugural Tahoe Vista Paddlefest Fall Classic, which will be hosted by Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort in Tahoe Vista, California on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10 and 11. This premier event is part of the Tahoe Cup organization which is known throughout the paddleboard industry as one of the finest organizers of some of the toughest races in America. This fall, they will set a new benchmark and host the longest inland distance paddleboard race in the world that extends 22 miles, at elevation 6,200 feet, across Lake Tahoe – the largest alpine lake in North America.

“We have created a community-wide two-day festival to complement this prestigious race,” noted Alex Mourelatos, owner of the beachfront resort (and location of the end of the contest) on Lake Tahoe’s North Shore. “Events are all family friendly and selected to help locals and visitors enjoy a fun and memorable time together.”

Race entry fees, North Lake Tahoe lodging specials and event package information is available by visiting MLRTahoe.com or calling 530-546-9500.

In addition to the showcase race that will start on Lake Tahoe’s South Shore and end at Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort on the edge of North Lake Tahoe, there’s a full line-up of activities that include beachfront yoga workshops, fire dancing, music of the Sneaky Creatures, and a celebratory Hawaiian-style Kalua Pig Luau as part of the Awards Ceremony at the resort.

“We have seen a significant influx of business from the paddleboard community at our resort and throughout the Tahoe Vista area,” said Mourelatos who credits the areas’ miles of sandy beaches and easygoing atmosphere for the recent surge in popularity.
