The Grand Theatre Center for the Arts is proud to announce its 13th season. The 2019-2020 Presenting Season includes a variety of cultural and entertaining events, concerts and performances that reflect the colorful and diverse fabric of the Central Valley. The season brochure is now available online and tickets are also now available to the public.
The season opens on Sept. 14 with Emmy and SAG-nominated actor, comedian and author Kevin Nealon, who is best known for his nine-year stint as a cast member of NBC’s Saturday Night Live and has received critical acclaim for his role in the Showtime series Weeds. Nealon currently stars on the CBS-TV comedy series Man With A Plan. He also hosts the digital series, “Hiking with Kevin” and he tours globally doing stand-up comedy.
This year, many are sure to recognize a few of the returning live music favorites of the Grand Theatre’s stage, such as: 38 Special, Y&T, Jeff Bordes and Friends, Caravanserai, and Forejour; but they will also have a chance to hear music from Blue Oyster Cult, Tony! Toni! Toné!, five-time Grammy winner and Blues Hall of Fame inductee Robert Cray, Grammy-nominated duo Thompson Square, and many more.
Local favorites like the “The Valley Voice” competition, Dancing with the Tracy Stars and the Student Film Festival will also be returning this season. Theatre performances this year include, but are not limited to: Dracula, the Nutcracker Ballet and Sugar Plum Tea Party, and Romeo & Juliet. The Grand Theatre Center for the Arts is a unique interdisciplinary arts center offering professional and community-based fine arts programming through arts education, exhibitions, and performances of all kinds. The Center, owned and operated by the City of Tracy, hosts over 50,000 visitors per year. The Grand Foundation is a private 501(c)(3) fundraising and community partner of the facility.
The Grand Theatre Center for the Arts is accessible to persons with disabilities and open to the public Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and every other Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The galleries are closed during the month of August and in between feature exhibitions. Featured exhibits are presented in the GWF Energy and Souza Family Galleries. Art co-opted in the South Gallery features over 30 artists and lenders. Exhibitions are open to the public.
