The deadline to enter the 67th Fine Art Show and Exhibit, hosted by the Mother Lode Art Association in Sonora, is rapidly approaching. Artists who want to display their work have until Sunday, Oct. 3 to submit an entry form for this year’s show.

This Fine Art Show is a fundraiser with proceeds from entry fees, art sales, and raffle tickets going to support art education in Tuolumne County schools.

In addition to the prestige of winning at this annual event there are some awards. Best of Show award is $300, Diane Sanguinetti Honorary Award $100, People’s Choice $100, Category 6 $ 100 and category awards for first, $100; second, $75; and third, $50.

Multiple categories are available for submission. For eligibility and rules, the entry forms are available online at www.motherlodeartassociation.org. If mailing it in, entry forms must be postmarked before Friday, Oct. 1, 2021.

This year, in addition to the regular show, they are adding two new components to the show. The Association will be holding a juried student art show, open to participants up to the age of 18 and the Sonora Photo Club will be sharing images from their in-house photo contest by the Sonora Photo Club members.

The show opens with an Artists Reception at Sonora Opera Hall, 250 S. Washington St., Sonora on Friday, Oct. 15 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with an Awards Presentation at 7 p.m.

The show is then open on Saturday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be a raffle and a silent auction, both of which close at 2 p.m. Sunday.
