Bikram yoga may not be for everyone.

Yet there are those who swear by this form of yoga that’s held in a heated room – try sweltering 105 degree temperatures with 40 percent humidity – and consists of 26 poses and two breathing exercises.

Amanda, for one, has been at True You Hot Yoga in Stockton for several ears. She noted that there’s nothing quite like the 90-minute session where you can burn 500 to 1,000 calories while feeling cleanse of some of the toxins.

According to True You Hot Yoga, the Bikram methods have benefits to one’s being that include:

·         Relieving stress, anxiety, and tension.

·         Increasing energy levels.

·         Building stamina, strength and flexibility.

·         Relieving back pain and speeding up the healing process for injuries.

The heated room is an important part of the yoga therapy.

“It allows your body to warm and soften up so that you can do the postures safely,” according to www.trueyouhotyoga.com. “The heat encourages a purifying sweat, which releases toxins and rejuvenates the skin.

“Also, the heat teaches you how to breathe, how to hydrate your body, and how to take care of yourself both in and outside of the class.”

Several classes are offered at True You Hot Yoga, from Music / Basic Method to Intermediate and Advance.

True You Hot Yoga also offers Yin Yoga, MTM (Muscle That Matter), and Inferno Hot Pilates.

Yin Yoga is a 75-minute class consisting of long-held postures in a non-heated room. It can be quite beneficial for those with tight hips, backaches or stiff joints.

MTM is held in a non-heated room, using a combination of backward bending, body weigh movements and yoga through moving meditation.

Inferno Hot Pilates is an intense, full body workout that’s conducted in a room heated up to 95 degrees and 40 percent humidity. Sessions here combines Pilates principles with High Intensity Training.

True You Hot Yoga is located at 2341 Pacific Ave.
