The evening’s concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and will include selections by Randall Thompson, Ola Gjeilo, Leonard Bernstein, Beatles and others. As a highlight, the Delta Singers will be joined by the Stockton Master Chorale and young soloist, Ian Clark, for a performance of Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. This suite of psalm settings incorporates lively rhythms and beautiful arcing melodies. Commissioned by the Very Rev. Walter Hussey, Dean of Chichester Cathedral in Sussex, Bernstein’s suite has become a standard in the choral repertoire.

Since that time she has been a General Music and Choral Specialist in Lincoln Unified School District. She served the district as Mentor Teacher and Music Teacher Specialist, coordinating the K-8 music program district-wide. Mrs. Calonico is currently principal of Don Riggio School where Visual and Performing Arts are an integral part of every student’s education. This is her 14th year directing the Stockton Youth Chorale. Making music with kids is her favorite thing to do.

The Delta College choirs and the Stockton Master Chorale are under the direction of Dr. Bruce Southard. Southard is in his third year as Director of Choral and Vocal Activities at Delta College and in his second year as Artistic Director for the Stockton Chorale.

“I am very proud of the work my students have been doing this semester and am looking forward to a wonderful first concert,” said Southard.
