The Stanislaus County Fair is getting ready to have its floors rumble and shake with the incredible energy produced by ‘70’s rock band, Grand Funk Railroad.
The Stanislaus County Fair welcomes Grand Funk Railroad on Saturday, July 21 as the high-energy, five-piece group will be performing on the Bud Light Variety Free Stage at 8:30 p.m.
The concert will be hosted by 104.1 The Hawk and is free with the price of Fair admission.
“It would be wrong to talk about the ‘70’s rock and not mention Grand Funk Railroad,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “The beloved band’s spunk and liveliness has impacted many artists and on July 21, will impact many fans.”
Known as “The American Band,” Grand Funk Railroad is a top-selling rock group who laid the groundwork for many bands with its signature hard-driving sound, soulful vocals, muscular instrumentation and forceful pop melodies. Such bands include Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen and Bon Jovi. The internationally acclaimed group even sold out a 1971 performance at New York’s Shea Stadium faster than the Beatles. The fact that Grand Funk’s legacy still reigns over the Classic Rock landscape more than 40 years after its 1969 birth in Flint, Michigan is a testament to the group’s influence and staying power. With the group’s 2017-2018 tour, seasoned Grand Funk lovers, along with contemporary rock fans discovering the group for the first time, will be able to celebrate with Grand Funk Railroad.
The 2018 Stanislaus County Fair opens Friday, July 13 for a 10-day run. Discounted Fair admission tickets, unlimited ride wristbands, and the Fair season pass will be on sale beginning Saturday, April 28. Corporate ticket sales will also be available to purchase at a highly discounted rate. Visit the Fair’s website for upcoming ticket sale information at www.stancofair.com.
