What does it take to succeed? To have a winning season? To accomplish more than people thought possible?
It takes a little MAGIC - which, according to Escalon High School football coach and teacher Mark Loureiro - is Make A Great Individual Commitment.
Loureiro told his players and the crowd of parents, grandparents, siblings, and supporters that gathered for the season-end varsity football banquet on Sunday that MAGIC can take you far in sports, and in life.
The banquet wrapped up what was a hugely successful 10-2 season for the Cougars, and gave Loureiro the chance to offer a bit of insight into each player. Several were recognized as scholar-athletes, 3.0 GPA or above, while a number also received their varsity letter and other honors.
