Action on the links Monday, May 2 saw the Escalon boys varsity golf team place second in the Trans-Valley League championship. The TVL golf match was hosted at Swenson Park Golf Course. Both Ripon and Escalon High School qualified to move on to the Divisional playoffs for Division 5 with three other leagues. That competition was scheduled to be played at Merced Country Club on Monday, May 9, after The Times went to press. Look for those results in the May 18 issue.

Here are the results from the May 2 TVL championship tournament.

Team scores: Ripon 401, Escalon 452, Livingston 498, Hughson 513, Hilmar 528, Riverbank no score.

Individual Cougar scores: Bryce McKenzie 81, Kaden Schrotenboer 84, TJ McNeil 86, Jacob Dugo 97, Ben Millard 104, Chris Vidales 109.

“The boys had a successful season taking second place in all of the TVL tournaments,” said coach Dale Clayton. “Bryce took third in the championship and third overall in total points, Kaden was fifth in the championship and sixth overall, TJ ninth and ninth overall, Ben was 18th and 12th overall which earned all four boys All-TVL honors.”

McKenzie’s team-leading 81 at the TVL Tournament was a personal best, noted the coach, helping secure a spot in the divisionals.
