Tennis Preps For TVL

Traveling for a match at Placer on Tuesday, March 7, the Cougar tennis team didn’t actually get to play for wins.

“It was more of a scrimmage. All kids played one set per opponent, then switched opponents to play against a variety of players,” noted coach Staci Diaz of the opportunity to face off against multiple opponents. “They ended up playing four or five sets against different players to get in more practice.”

No scores were kept.

Meanwhile, a scheduled match against Calaveras on Wednesday, March 8 and another initially set for today, March 15, were both cancelled since Calaveras is not fielding a tennis team this year.

That does give the team a chance to get in some extra practices, under sunny skies, as they prepare for their Trans-Valley League opener.

League action starts for Escalon on Monday, March 20 when they will be home to host Hughson. Start time is 3:30 p.m.
