Flag Football

World Events has announced registration for Escalon’s 5 on 5 Youth Flag Football Leagues. Flag Football is open to kids from 4 to 17-years-olkd, boys and girls, with a cost of $55 per player. The non-competitive program focuses on teamwork, sportsmanship and skill development in a fun, no pressure environment. This introduction to organized football is also non-contact. The league will run Saturdays from Oct. 14 through Dec. 2 and all games will be played at Hogan Field. Registration available online only, www.cityofescalon.org; sign-ups are due by Friday, Sept. 1.

 

Bowlers Ready To Roll

The El Portal bowling league will start up again for the 2017-18 school year on Thursday, Sept. 7 at McHenry Bowl in Modesto. Bowlers will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room and bowling starts at 10 a.m. Bowlers of all abilities are welcome and they bowl each Thursday morning. The league raises money for El Portal sixth grade science camp and last season, bowlers raised $2,000 for the students to help offset camp attendance costs.

 

Futbol Club Seeks Players

The Manteca Futbol Club Rebels boys soccer team is looking for players born in 2005 to bolster the team in the midfield and defensive line. The team, which includes players from Manteca, Escalon and Ripon, competes at the Silver level and recently began its fall season. The Rebels will play in at least two more tournaments before the end of the year, including the Breakers Cup in Santa Cruz in October. Golf Program Begins

The First Tee of San Joaquin will begin its Fall Tour for boys and girls ages 5 to 17 in September. Children will learn sportsmanship, respect and other core values while learning the fundamentals of golf. The nine-week sessions are held every Saturday morning and equipment will be provided.
