Escalon’s varsity Lady Cougar golfers finished tied for third in league play – Valley Foothill League – but couldn’t quite get to the second season as a team.
“We were just edged out of the playoffs by three strokes in the tie-breaker,” explained coach Martin Louro. “We still had two individuals, Lucy Albaugh and Genevieve Casazza, qualify for the Division 5 tournament.”
The tournament, hosted on Monday, Oct. 24 saw the Escalon season officially come to an end.
“Only the top six advanced to the Masters tournament. Lucy Allbaugh was the eighth lowest score with her round of 87,” Louro pointed out. “Overall, it was a very fun year and the girls continued to improve as the season progressed. I am looking forward to having 10 girls returning next year and am always looking for new recruits.”
