Competition heats up Oakdale Saddle Club rodeo grounds

While there were some stormy skies overhead, bringing intermittent rain, the annual Oakdale Saddle Club PRCA Rodeo went off as scheduled this past weekend. The extravaganza took place Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12 in the arena on the east end of town.

The Oakdale Saddle Club welcomed thousands of fans to the show and the must-see event featured some of the toughest athletes on the planet and seven heart-stopping competitions.

By the end of the weekend, it was Paden Bray of Stephenville, Texas walking off with the All-Around Cowboy honors, his total earnings of $3,702 coming in tie down roping and team roping.

The fan-favorite event, bull riding, had no qualified riders, according to the results listed on the official PRCA Oakdale Rodeo website.

Here is a look at the top finishers in each of the competitive events.

Bareback Riding: Clayton Biglow, first (83), $2,775; Kash Martin (82.5) and Daxtyn Feild and Wyatt Wood, tied for third (81).

Steer Wrestling: First Round: Kaden Greenfield 4.4 seconds, $1,223; Sterling Lambert 4.8; Hayden Webb 5.0. Second Round: Seth Peterson 4.4, $1,223; Levi Rudd 5.4; Hayden Webb 5.5. Average: Hayden Webb 10.5, $1,834; Cody Harmon 11.6; James Mann 11.8.

Team Roping: First Round: Denton Parish/Corey Hendrick 6.0 seconds, $2,042 each; Jaxon Hill/Jessen James 7.0; Blake Hirdes/Jason Johe 7.1 Second Round: Riley Minor/Brady Minor 6.5, $2,042 each; J7 Bland/Truman Magnus 6.7; Hayes Smith/Justin Davis 7.1. Average: Brit Ellerman/Todd Hampton 15.1, $3,062 each; Brayden Schmidt/Kyle Lockett 15.6; Jaxon Hill/Jessen James 15.7.

Saddle Bronc Riding: Bailey Small (85), $2,876; Jasper Frost and Riggin Smith, tie, (83.5) and Joe Harper (82.5).

Tie-Down Roping: First Round: Brushton Minton 8.6 seconds, $1,756; Paden Bray 9.2; Cash Enderli and Colton Suther, tie, 9.4. Second Round: Ketch Kelton 7.8 seconds, $1,756; Jayden Broussard 8.6; J Cody Jones 8.9. Average: Colton Suther 18.4 seconds, $2,634; Roan Hudson 19.2 and Brushton Minton 19.3.

Barrel Racing: Kathy Petska 18.10 seconds, $2,775; Shayane Fredrickson 18.24; Shelley Holman 18.39.

Bull Riding: No qualified rides.

Total payoff for the 2026 PRCA Oakdale Rodeo was $132,200 with Four Star Rodeo as the main stock contractors. Jody Carper returned as the announcer with Rider Kiesner back for another year as the clown/barrelman. Allison Whitsett served as rodeo secretary and officials were Brad McGilchrist, Matt Weisoff and Mike Tatsey.

Timers were Kaely Juzik and Kyla Pearson; pick up men were Rick Moffatt, Jared Groene and Jeff Shearer; bullfighters were Josh Daires and Austin Jones.
