Suiting up for the Trans-Valley League 18-hole Year End Tournament, the varsity Escalon golf girls took part in the competition on Monday, Oct. 20 at Micke Grove Golf Course in Lodi.

“Micke Grove was in great shape,” said head coach Chris Casazza. “Everything was green and well maintained.”

Hilmar took the tournament with the low team score of 360, followed by Ripon, 390; Hughson, 419; Ripon Christian, 435; Escalon, 451; Sonora, 515. Orestimba took part as well but did not have a full team and therefore did not qualify for a team score.

Individual results for Escalon saw Elizabeth Allan carding a 92 as the team low for the day. Samantha Bruns came in at 106, followed by Taylor Bruns, 126; and Mia Fernandes, 127. Not in the top four were Areli Herrera, 128; and Olivia Aceves, 129.

“The overall field was 39 girls,” Casazza said. “Elizabeth Allan placed fourth; Samantha Bruns tied for 12th.”

The effort by Escalon’s top three at the league event paid off, as Elizabeth Allan, Samantha Bruns and Taylor Bruns all qualified as individuals for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division 5 tournament being hosted at the Bing Maloney Golf Course in Sacramento.

“We wish them the best of luck and we know they will represent Escalon well,” the coach said. “I’m so very proud of all three of them.”
