Administrative Secretary Mayra Bravo, who works in the main office at Dent Elementary School, was honored recently as the San Joaquin County Classified Employee of the Year in the Clerical and Administrative Services division. She was selected for the honor previously, and was recognized with winners from across the county’s school systems in a number of other categories at the 2026 San Joaquin County Excellence in Education Celebration Dinner, held at the county Office of Education on Thursday, April 9.
County education officials noted that the annual awards honor “the best of the best” in the education profession and celebrate all the talented, caring, and committed educators and school personnel who make a difference in the lives of their students and the community.
Bravo has nine years’ experience in her role and received $500 from Self-Help Federal Credit Union for her selection.
Making note of Bravo’s receipt of the county honor, Escalon Unified School District officials stated that: “Mayra Bravo is truly ‘one of a kind!’ She keeps Dent school running smoothly every day – coordinating substitutes, managing schedules, handling school finances, organizing field trips and assemblies, and supporting students, families, and staff with a smile. Even before the school day starts, Mayra is already solving problems and helping our team, all while juggling her role as a mom. Her dedication goes far beyond what’s expected. Mayra is also a natural leader. She supports our staff, shares her knowledge, and even helps train others. She is dependable, organized, creative, and always focused on what’s best for children.”
Bravo is a former Dent Elementary student herself and also served previously as an instructional assistant.
“She understands our families, especially our English learners, and her bilingual skills make everyone feel welcome and informed,” District officials added.
Greeting everyone with a smile, officials said it’s easy for teachers, parents, and community members to agree: “Mayra is a positive force and blessing to our campus. She’s the go-to person for guidance, support, and ideas, and she has her hand in almost everything that helps our school thrive. Dent Elementary wouldn’t be the same without her.”
