Salmon

As of Dec. 16, the Stanislaus River fall-run salmon migration is at 4,729 salmon. For comparison, the season total was 8,373 salmon at this time last year. Adult fall-run Chinook salmon migrate and spawn between September and December. The eggs that they lay will hatch between January and April, and monitoring activities will take place in the Stanislaus River to count these juvenile salmon as they migrate towards the ocean.

Funding for salmon monitoring at the Stanislaus weir is provided by the Oakdale Irrigation District, South San Joaquin Irrigation District, and Tri-Dam. Data collection is conducted by FISHBIO. For more information, visit www.fishbio.com.
