Golfers Continue Campaign

On Thursday, March 31, Hughson High School hosted the TVL golf tournament held at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres. Six high schools participated with Ripon taking first with the low score of 335 followed by Escalon with 376, then Livingston, Hughson, Hilmar and Riverbank going third through sixth respectively.

Escalon’s individual scores were as follows: Bryce McKenzie with his best score of the season of 68, Kaden Schrotenboer 71, TJ McNeil 74, Ben Millard 77, Chris Vidales 86 and Scott Allen who played in his first tournament shook off a shaky start and ended with a 103.

“It should be noted that the top six individual TVL golfers will be in invited to the CIF SJS Division 5 Sectional Tournament,” said EHS golf coach Dale Clayton. “After three league tournaments, Kaden Schrotenboer and Bryce McKenzie are currently in the top six.”

The next tournament will be April 7, hosted by Ripon High School at Jack Tone Golf Course.

 

Tennis Team Busy

A match against Millennium Charter on March 29 went in the win column for the Cougar tennis team, the Escalon squad getting wins across the board in the 9-0 victory. Against Ripon on Friday, in Trans-Valley League play, the team took a 6-3 decision off the courts. Overall, the Cougars are 3-2 for the campaign so far and currently sit in third place in league. They were scheduled to be on the road at Hughson on Tuesday, April 5 after The Times went to press and go to Livingston on Friday, April 8. Next week, the Cougars will be at Riverbank and then host Millennium on Friday, April 15. Their final home match of the season will be on Tuesday, April 26 and will be against Ripon, while also being observed as Senior Night.
