William A. Burns, 64, formerly of Escalon, died Friday, March 18 at Kaiser Santa Teresa Hospital in San Jose. He had lived in San Jose for one year and prior to that, lived in Escalon for 23 years. He was a native of Dallas, Texas.

He received his Bachelor's Degree from San Jose State University and received his Master's Degree at St. Mary's College. He was a teacher in several cities in the Bay Area with the majority of his career based in Manteca. He retired from the Manteca Unified School District in 2002 and resumed teaching in 2003 with the Alum Rock Union School District in San Jose.

Survivors include his children, Kelly Hughes of Escalon and Shannon Anderson of Lincoln City, Oregon; mother, Elaine B. Burns of Sacramento; sibling, Terrie Burns of Kentfield; and grandchildren, Ryan Nelson of Spokane, Washington, Devin Amos and Adam Amos, both of Escalon, and Jordan Anderson of Lincoln City, Oregon.

Memorial service will be on Friday, March 25 at 11:30 a.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon. No visitation. Private interment.

Remembrances may be made to a charity of choice.
