Rose Lee Prater, 75, of Escalon died at her home in Escalon on Wednesday, July 7.

Born in Hutchinson, Kansas, she had lived in Escalon for 64 years. She was a grocery clerk at Big Boy Market in Escalon for 19 years and also a clerk at Strands Hardware Store in Escalon for 19 years. She enjoyed playing scrabble, sewing and quilting, and spending time with her family.

She was a member of Escallonia Chapter #447 O.E.S., Shrine Widows and The Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her children, Kathleen E. Peck of Henderson, Nevada, Karen L. Harris and Keith L. Prater, both of Escalon, and Kendra E. Ostergaard of Carson City, Nevada; brother, William Byron Nelson of Sacramento; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Prater in 1983, and brother, Milton V. Nelson Jr. in 1957.

Funeral services were Monday, July 12 at Escalon Methodist Church. Visitation was held. Interment will be at Burwood Cemetery, River Road.
