Ronald Lee Ballance, 65, of Escalon died Wednesday, June 1 at his Escalon residence.

Born in Bakersfield, he had lived in Escalon his entire life. He was a veteran of the Army.

He retired as a lieutenant of Security for the California Youth Authority at De Witt Nelson Training Center in Stockton. His hobbies were playing golf, hunting, traveling, working on cars, weight lifting and playing cards.

He loved the outdoors and took tremendous pride in his 20-acre almond ranch and loved living in Escalon. He loved to teach, loved life and especially his family and friends, he embraced them all and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of seven year, Barbara Ballance of Escalon; children, Diana De Cicco and husband Mike of Escalon, Patricia Ballance of Fair Play, MO and Brian Ballance and wife Theresa of Escalon; stepchildren Julie Price and husband Lance of Atwater and Andrew Roggero of Escalon; and 11 grandchildren, Brianna, Jacob, Sean, T.J., Angela, James, William, Kristen, Tess, Jackson and Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie, in 1994, and a brother, Charles Ballance.

Visitation was Monday, June 6 with a graveside service Tuesday, June 7 at Burwood Cemetery, River Road.
