Mary Azevedo, 93, of Modesto died Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Born in Pescadero, California, she had lived in Escalon from 1917 to 1955 and had lived in Modesto since 1955 until her death. She was a homemaker and a rancher.

She grew up in Escalon and as a child she attended Van Allen Elementary School and Escalon High School where she was active in women's sports. As an adult she farmed and lived in Escalon until her move to Modesto. She was an active member of St. Stanislaus Parish and St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include nephews Arthur Azevedo Jr. of Modesto and David Azevedo of Escalon; godchild Mary Costa of Ripon.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Azevedo Sr. in 1994.

No visitation. Services were Tuesday, Oct. 12 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with interment at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
