Margery G. Isbell, 97, of Escalon passed away on Thursday, October 18 at Oak Valley Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Wakeeney, Kansas on November 29, 1909, moved to Southern California at the age of 9, graduated from Pasadena High School and attended Pasadena City College. She moved to Hilmar with her husband and family in 1944. Retirement years she lived in Salinas, Pioneer and Oakdale before moving to Escalon to live with her daughter.

She had been active in the Emanuel Thrift Shop, Hilmar Covenant Church, Salinas Presbyterian Church, Oakdale United Methodist Church, Escalon Covenant Church and Oak Valley Hospital Gift Shop. Of late, she enjoyed exercise and lunch with the Senior Group of Escalon. She was a homemaker most of her life but had been the bookkeeper of the former Farmers Union Telephone Lines.

Margery enjoyed her flowers and gardening, sewing, stitchery, entertaining friends and family and traveling with her husband in the retirement years.

She is survived by her son, Lyle Isbell Jr. of Vale, Oregon; daughter Marilyn Dompeling of Escalon; sister Alice Aspinwall of Santa Barbara; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle Sr., daughter Katherine Johnston, parents and seven siblings.

Her services will be private. Donations can be made to a favorite charity.
