Lucy Bettencourt passed away peacefully on June 27, 2019 in Ripon, Ca. at the age of 95. Lucy was born to Joe and Maria Vieira on May 31, 1924 in Hollister, Ca. Lucy was one of eight siblings and the first to graduate from High School. After graduation Lucy went on to become a bookkeeper for Bank of America in Hollister, Ca. in 1943. Before relocating to San Jose she met Tony Bettencourt one evening while attending a dance. After coming home from the war Tony and Lucy married in 1945. They had two sons, John and Jim. Lucy was a wonderful homemaker and loving mother and wife to her family. While having a passion for numbers, she also took great pleasure in painting and loved watching the birds fly around in her beautiful garden.
Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings and her husband of 68 years, Tony. Lucy is survived by her 2 sons, John Bettencourt (Geri), Jim Bettencourt (Linda), grandchildren, Kristina Keller (Dan), Jennifer Bettencourt, Hollie Bettencourt-Young (Brian), Heather Bettencourt, and great grandchildren, Ryan, Leah and Harper.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass will be held on July 12, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Escalon, Ca. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation be made in Lucy’s name to any Hospice or charity of your choice.
