Leona passed away at her home in Farmington on Tuesday, March 27 and went to her heavenly home. Leona was born in Burbank, CA on December 8, 1917 to Ralph and Myrtle Emig. She married Robert Boone on March 26, 1939; they were married for 63 years before Robert’s passing. They lived in the Empire and Escalon areas before moving to Farmington in 1954.
Leona is survived by her brother, Maurice (Nellie) Emig of Ahwanee, CA, her three children, Jim (Gloriajean) Boone, Herman (Barbara) Boone, and Gayle (John) Kroon, all of Farmington. She is also survived by four grandsons, 12 great­ grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three foster sons, one foster daughter and their children. Leona and Robert cared for and loved 10 foster children. Leona is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Mable Emig and Bernice Beldon, and brother, Chester Emig. She loved the Lord and prayed daily for loved ones and friends. She was a Sunday School teacher at Escalon Covenant Church many years ago and loved the children she taught. She was so blessed to have her wonderful caregiver, Lee who lovingly cared for her the past six months.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 5, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Salas Brothers, 419 Scenic Drive, Modesto.
Graveside service will be Friday, April 6 at 12 p.m. at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 E. River Road, Escalon. Memorial donations can be made to Youth for Christ/Point Break Adolescent Resources, PO Box 8841, Stockton, CA 95208-0841, or other charity of your choice.
