JAMES (JAY) DUTEY JAYS BARBER SHOP
Oct. 16, 1924 - Dec. 31, 2015
Dutey 1

With loved ones by his side, Jay passed away quietly at the young age of 91 in his Delhi home.
He was raised in Escalon, but lived most of his life in Modesto.
He operated Jay’s Barber Shop for over 50 years and was grateful for all the “beautiful” people he met throughout that time. He truly loved his work and all his customers.
Jay had a knack for repairing old clocks. He could fix anything broken or tired and give it new life. He especially appreciated “Mother Earth” and shared the bounty from his garden with everyone in his family.
We will miss his sweet harmonica songs that flowed from his heart to ours with such love and devotion.
Jay is survived by his children Lynette (Tom) Bostrom, Linda (Loren) Ellis, Patricia Gill; sonin-law George Atherton, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Margaret, son Michael Dutey, daughter Marina Atherton, and son-in-law George Gill.
Please come celebrate Jay’s life on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 1:30 p.m. at: Shelter Cove Community Church, 4242 Coffee Road, Modesto.
If interested, please continue Jay’s generosity and kindness by making a donation to: Modesto Gospel Mission, 1400 Yosemite Blvd., Modesto, CA 95353.
