James (Jim) Earl Davis Sr. from Escalon, California passed away April 26, 2019. Jim was born August 16, 1941 in Battiest, Oklahoma. His parents, James and Fannie, moved the family to California in search of a better life, like many during this period. They would settle in Modoc where Jim would experience life as a child living in a lumber camp. He joined the army spending time in Korea, Hawaii, and then Oakland. It was the Oakland Army base that he met the love of his life Rebecca Davis and they would share the next 56 years together. Jim experienced careers in the military police, police reserves (city of San Leandro), electrician, almond rancher, and his longest tenure (love) for the open road through the transportation of goods.
Jim and Rebecca have four children; Clara Ann, James Jr. (Brenda), John (Jennifer), and Gina (Manuel). Their family would grow to include many grand and great-grandchildren which all were cherished by him and they all loved their Papa. Jim is preceded in death by both of his parents, all of his siblings and his son, James Davis, Jr.
We invite Jim’s friends and family to join us in a graveside service May 11, 2019, 10 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery (Escalon). Followed immediately by a Celebration of Life to be held at Trinity Church in Escalon.
