Ilde Mary Rampoldi Grossi, 86, died Monday, March 12.
She was born on Oct. 1, 1925 in Musso, Como Lombardia, Italy. She was the daughter of Biago Rampoldi and Caterina Rampoldi.
She moved to Escalon at the age of 13 in 1938 and lived here for the past 72 years. During her life in Escalon she lived on the family's ranch where she started and raised her family. She worked as a bookkeeper and as a teacher's aide at the Lone Tree School. She opened the House of Cheese Deli in the '80s and was an active member in the Catholic Church. She was involved in the Italian Catholic Federation Club.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and being active in her grandchildren's lives. Her hobbies were cooking, knitting, and spending time with her dogs. She was a friend to many, a mom and grandmother who was loved very much. She will be deeply missed by all.
Survivors include her brother Fausto Rampoldi and his wife Louise; children Robert (Bob) L. Grossi, Lawrence (Larry) and wife Shannon Grossi; also grandchildren Michael, Anthony, Nicholas, Caterina, Nina, and Harrison.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Mary Lou Grossi.
Deegan Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Visitation was on Friday, March 16 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a memorial service was held immediately after the visitation.
Burial at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Carrolton Road, Escalon.
