Evelyn Machado, 90, of Escalon died on Saturday, Dec. 24.
She was born Feb. 7, 1921 in Oakland, California to John and Anna Philips of Hayward. She moved to Escalon in the mid-1950s where she lived until her death.
In her younger years she worked for the Escalon Packers Cannery and Bender's Bakery. She was best known for her love of baking, gardening and sewing projects. She loved life and was a friend to all.
Survivors include her four daughters and their husbands: Betty and Don Bennett of Escalon, Rosemary and John West of Newark, CA, Ana and Patrick Donahue of San Jose and Gloria and Rick Coady of Modesto; seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren; a sister Eleanor Santos of Hayward; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Machado; brother Walter Philips and sister Marie Stewart.
Visitation was Thursday, Dec. 29 at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon and services were Friday, Dec. 30 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with burial following at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Escalon.
