Eloisa Ramona Magdalena Mendez passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on December 14, 2018 at the age of 94. Eloise was born on January 23, 1924 in Clayton, New Mexico. She was raised in Escalon and was a resident of Riverbank for most of her life.

Eloisa was an amazing and resourceful woman. From migrant farm worker, to farm owner and manager, to a career at a local hospital; Eloisa never shied away from hard work. She also loved to have fun with her family. She and her late husband Ray graced dance floors for decades and shared that love of dance as well as camping and fishing with their loved ones. She brought that same passion to her family. She was a caregiver for both her mother and her father and then later her husband. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be mourned and celebrated greatly by many because of the cheerful generous way she lived her life.

Eloise leaves behind her son, Gilbert Mendez along with the two children she raised, Esther Mendez and Robin Mendez, her grandchildren, Brian Mendez, Joey Mendez, Gilbert Mendez and Malinda Mendez and their families. Eloise is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Rosendo “Ray” Ramos, her son Joey Mendez and her siblings, Vincent Mendez and Mary Mendez.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. A funeral mass is set for Thursday, December 27 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ripon followed by interment at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
