Clydeene Cortese, 79, died Wednesday, Oct. 26 with her family by her side.
She had been living at Vintage Faire Nursing and Rehab for the past six months where she became friends with many residents and staff.
She graduated from Oakdale High School
Mrs. Cortese was a bookkeeper for various companies from the age of 17 until six months ago, as her health no longer allowed her to work.
She and her husband enjoyed their Swiss Club and Dante Club events with their friends and dancing until the music stopped. She belonged to other organizations and groups over the years, including the Oak Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, her "bridge" card group, and St. Anne's Guild at St. Matthias Anglican Church where she was an active member.
She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family in the Sierras. She was a wonderful cook and thoroughly enjoyed having family and friends over.
She was an inspiration to all, never complaining of her health issues. She had a wonderful outlook on life and had much faith in the Lord. She will be missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Bruno Cortese; daughter, Pamela (Jim) Suniga; and grandchild, Anthony Suniga.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 at St. Matthias Church, 101 S. First Ave., Oakdale, with final resting place at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 E. River Road, Escalon.
Remembrances may be made to Escalon Community Ambulance, 1480 Ullrey Ave., Escalon, CA 95320; or to the American Heart Association, 2007 O St., Sacramento, CA 95811; or to St. Matthias Anglican Church, 101 S. First Ave., Oakdale, CA 95361; or to your favorite charity.
