Catherine Ann Alfrey, a resident of Escalon for 38 years, passed away at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto on Oct. 21. She was 61 years old.

She was born on Sept. 19, 1947 in Rapid City, South Dakota and was a loving mother, wife and grandmother who loved decorating for the holidays. She also loved camping, fishing, jet skiing, boating, traveling across the United States and Canada, and being with friends and family.

She was a dispatcher for the Escalon and Ripon Police Department for 17 years.

She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Gary Alfrey of Escalon; her children, Tracy Alfrey of Escalon, Scott and his wife Skyler Alfrey of Escalon, and Shelley Tschimperle of West Point, CA; grandchildren Autumn Boyer, Ashley Boyer, Erin Kennedy, all of West Point, and Emma Mae Alfrey of Escalon; her father George and his wife Joan Whitworth of Ceres; her siblings Ron Whitworth of Florida, Donna Mills Barrie of Ontario, and Larry and his wife Maxine Whitworth of Modesto; and one great grandchild

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sallie Mae Whitworth, who passed away in 1981.

Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 30 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St., Escalon. Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel. Burial will be private.

Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon is in charge of arrangements.
