San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) will roll out its Van Go on-demand service throughout San Joaquin County on Monday, March 25, 2019.
RTD Van Go is a ride-share service that will help residents travel more easily within four zones in San Joaquin County.
“After the successful pilot program last fall in the north county,” said RTD CEO Donna DeMartino, “we are excited to expand Van Go’s service area so that it would be available to all San Joaquin County residents.”
This on-demand service provides transportation within designated zones. For longer trips, Van Go offers free transfers to connect passengers to buses at all San Joaquin County public bus transit agencies. Unlike some other transportation options, Van Go will pick up passengers in rural San Joaquin County.
Every Van Go vehicle is wheelchair-accessible, and its drivers are trained, licensed, and fully prepared to help with accessibility needs.
To ride, customers can download and use the Van Go app (from the Apple App Store or Google Play) to schedule a ride. They will also be able to call 1-800-FOR-RIDE (800-367-7433) to make a reservation.
Beginning on March 25, rides cost $4 per one-way trip or $10 for a one-day pass. Discounted fares will make it even more affordable for seniors, persons with disabilities, and U.S. veterans. More details will be available on sjRTD.com/VanGo.
The new Van Go service will be available on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on weekends from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Transit district officials note that the ‘Van Go’ is a play on the famous artist, with the slogan: “Transportation that’s a work of art—Van Go!”
