Park Fete Celebration Coming Into Focus

It is just over a month away, and planning is well underway for this year’s edition of Park Fete, the annual Escalon ‘homecoming’ celebration for the community.

Dates for the fete are Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13 but there is a full week of activities that are part of the actual celebration. Organizers will gather for their next meeting on Thursday, June 6 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

On Tuesday, July 9 there will be recognition for Senior Mr. and Mrs. Escalon at the Escalon Community Center as part of a noontime luncheon; Wednesday, July 10 will bring the Miss Escalon Pageant, at 6 p.m. at the Community Center, starting with a dinner; Thursday, July 11 will see the Little Mr. and Miss Escalon Pageant, also at 6 p.m. at the Community Center.

On Friday, the city’s Main Street Park will come alive with vendor booths opening at 4 p.m., a petting zoo, retro gaming station at The Grange Hall and carnival rides and games opening at 6 p.m. The Lions Club beer booth will be open from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. ad there will be entertainment on the stage from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with The New Past, 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. will be headliner Never 2 Late.

Also on Friday, the Escalon Police Department cornhole tournament takes place at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday morning features the Escalon Park Fete Run at 7:30 a.m. at El Portal Middle School, with the Masons breakfast served at the Masonic Hall from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Junior stick horse races start at 10 a.m., the carnival and kids corral also opens at 10 a.m. and the parade steps off at 11 a.m.

Throughout the day special activities are planned including a free movie and cool off station at the Escalon Library, a horseshoe tournament at 11 a.m. and several performers taking the stage.

Vendor booths also open at 10 a.m. for the day, along with the Lions Club beer booth and local vendors will be featuring food, beverages, crafts, merchandise, toys and more. Ravioli the clown will be featured in the kids corral area during the afternoon.

Among the Saturday entertainment, Powerhouse Dance Studio, Escalon Youth Band, Tony Freitas Elvis Tribute Artist, Escalon’s Got Talent, Remedy and headliner Gotcha Covered from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., closing out the Park Fete festivities.
