Jay Krishnaswamy has been named Senior Vice President and Area Manager of the Kaiser Permanente Central Valley Service Area. Krishnaswamy will have oversight of and be responsible for hospital operations and the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan for the area that includes facilities in Stockton, Modesto, Manteca, Lathrop and Tracy.
“I am proud to join this team of exceptional, talented professionals delivering high-quality care for our expanding region,” Krishnaswamy said. “Kaiser Permanente Central Valley is such a special place for our employees, patients, and members and I am honored to have the opportunity to lead us forward and continue to build on our commitment to meeting the growing, diverse health care needs of our community.”
Krishnaswamy brings 30 years of health care leadership experience and a strong track record of advancing operational excellence, clinical quality, and physician collaboration across complex health systems. He joins Kaiser Permanente from the Central Valley Doctors Health System in Modesto where he served as Market CEO, overseeing strategic, operational, and clinical activities across the system in partnership with hospital CEOs, physicians, community boards, and corporate leadership.
Throughout his career, Krishnaswamy’s leadership has been focused on strengthening physician relationships, improving operational performance, and fostering a culture of patient-centered care.
“Jay is a highly skilled, thoughtful leader who will build upon the work already being done to ensure our members and patients have exceptional care,” said Kathy Bressler, MN, RN, senior vice president, Hospital and Health Plan Operations for Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California region. “Through his partnership with our clinical teams, Jay will provide great support to our teams who are committed to increasing access to high-quality care in the Central Valley communities we serve.”
Krishnaswamy holds a master’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
He succeeds Aphriekah DuHaney-West, who was named Chief Operating Officer for Kaiser Permanente’s Northwest region last September.
