It was an opportunity to go “Into The Woods” at Escalon High School’s Performing Arts Center recently, with the Drama Club putting on the musical comedy-drama in shows Friday night, May 1 and Saturday afternoon, May 2. In this scene from Act 1, Little Red Riding Hood (Cristal Prado Zepeda), at left, barters with the Baker’s wife (Sophia Barboza) and the Baker (John Bush) for bread to take to her grandma while, at right, Cinderella (Taylor Bruns) sings to the birds while also seeking their advice. The production was a mash up of fairy tales and featured an on stage cast of 18, a large backstage crew headed up by stage manager Samantha Bruns, with EHS English teacher Emme Altamirano serving as director and EHS/El Portal choir director Joel Adams as the vocal coach.
