Market, job and resource fair upcoming in Stockton
County ed

The San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) in Stockton will be the host site for two upcoming special events.

First, on Thursday, April 23, it’s a market designed to provide students with valuable skills.

Students in special education programs across San Joaquin County will sell produce and plants grown in school gardens, as well as crafts made in the classroom, at the county Office of Education on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All are welcome to shop and meet the student crafters and gardeners behind the items on display. Transactions will be cash-only.

This unique Farmers Market is sponsored by the WorkAbility I program through the San Joaquin County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA), part of the SJCOE. WorkAbility I is a state program that provides students ages 12 to 22 vocational services and places students 16 and older in paid positions with local employers.

The high school students and young adults participating in the Farmers Market learn valuable skills preparing products for sale and interacting with customers.

The market will be staged at the San Joaquin County Office of Education, Wentworth Education Center, Solar Parking Lot, 2707 Transworld Drive, Stockton.

Then, on Saturday, April 25, SJCOE will hold its fourth annual Early Childhood Education Job and Resource Fair. The job and resource fair offers a unique opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing careers in early childhood education to connect with organizations in San Joaquin County, learn from their representatives, and explore various employment and education opportunities. On-the-spot interviews will be available.

The job fair is open to anyone interested in positions such as preschool teacher, teacher assistant, childcare worker, clerical staff, and more. Participating agencies include the SJCOE, Head Start San Joaquin, El Concilio, Lodi Unified School District, Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC), Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK), KinderCare, Family Resource and Referral, and Teachers College of San Joaquin.

The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon at the SJCOE Wentworth Education Center, 2707 Transworld Drive, Stockton.
