Observing the birthday of Dr. Seuss, the famed children’s author, many school sites in the Escalon Unified School District set aside a few hours or an entire day in the past week for some ‘reading is fundamental’ time. Here, second grade students at Dent Elementary settle in for some page turning. Shown, from left, Sebastian Rodriguez, Jacob Cavanaugh, Brenna Gray and Alora Strach enjoy the Dr. Seuss books. Dent, like other sites, also brought in a number of guest readers, with Escalon Police Chief Mike Borges among them. At Farmington, the Cat in the Hat always makes an appearance and some classes enjoyed movies based on the Dr. Seuss characters as well.
