A dozen visiting docents from Manteca were recently welcomed to the Escalon Historical Museum by Museum Curator Dorothy Miller and six Escalon museum docents.

After a brief history about the Escalon Historical Society and the historical building it occupies on Main Street, docents toured the museum, and afterwards enjoyed refreshments and conversation. The group exchanged ideas about their respective museum operations and procedures. Miller shared that their antique Gift Shop Display Case came originally from the Manteca Museum.

Before leaving Escalon, docents visited Rosa’s Bakery to sample and buy Portuguese Sweet Bread and other bakery items, then enjoyed lunch at D’Boni’s Pizza in Escalon. The Escalon docents are planning a tour to the Manteca museum later this spring.

The local museum is open Wednesdays, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Private tours and parties are available. For more information, call 838-7176.
