The City of Escalon will host a public workshop in the City Council Chambers located at Escalon City Hall, 2060 McHenry Ave., on Monday, Oct. 26. The study session will begin at 6:30 p.m.

City Manager Tammy Alcantor said the workshop is to review the proposed sewer rates and provide information regarding how the proposed rates were calculated. She noted that final calculations are still being made.

“We are still looking everything over,” Alcantor said. “But just as it was with water, sewer rates have not been increased since 1992 so a large increase should be expected.”

Included in the new sewer rate calculations will be items such as personnel, maintenance of the system and future capital improvement items. The report to be presented on Oct. 26 will include information that rates are conforming to the laws regulating utility fees. The report and calculations have been prepared by an independent consultant.

“All customers are encouraged to attend to understand the proposed increase to sewer rates,” said Alcantor.
