Escalon residents can drop off expired or unused medications on Saturday in a special ‘Got Drugs?’ event. They can also sit down at the local Starbuck’s for some coffee and conversation with officers.

The ‘Coffee with a Cop’ returns and will be staged at the Starbuck’s in Escalon on Lillian Avenue from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 29, designed as a way for officers and the public to meet in an informal setting, sharing coffee and pastries. The last coffee hour was on a weekday and officials are hoping that more people will be able to attend by offering it on a Saturday.

Also, the ‘Got Drugs?’ medication disposal day will be staged at the police station, 2040 McHenry Ave., from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Residents should remove pills from containers and packaging before bringing them in, then consolidate the loose pills in a plastic bag. Remove personal information from the packaging. Medical sharps will be accepted at the Escalon location but must be in sealed bio-hazard or other sturdy sealed containers.
